Thunder 2026: 31st!
Who Went: Tony, Bob, Bill, Jim, Lloyd, Dave, and Barry.
Where: Mammoth
When: Sunday Feb 22nd thru Thursday Feb 266th.
How: We had 2 trucks, Dave”s Silverado and Jim’s beautiful Tundra. Jim picked up Bill and Bob (in Ventura). Dave grabbed Tony and Lloyd in SB and met the others in Ventura. We picked up Barry at his house in Bishop and gave him a ride back to Bishop at end of trip.
Lodging: Stayed at 15 Bridges Lane near Eagle chair. 4 bedrooms, 1 loft, with hottub. Awesome views, great layout and one of the best we have stayed at. It was suppose to be ski-in, ski-out but not exactly. Had to walk to end of street and then navigate a snow path to get to slope or walk up to Bridges 20 and ski down
But the Hottub was incredible
Ski:
Monday: Beautiful blue bird ski day. Entire mountain open with most skiing the entire day.
Tuesday: Crappy, rainy windy day. Barry was the only one hardy enough to take some runs. Bill stayed in house and rest of us had drinks at the main lodge.
W
e
generally just hung at the house.
Wednesday: No rain but windy andwarm conditions. Upper part of mountain wasn’t open but we all decided to give it a go. Snow was heavy and lower slopes a bit crowded. We didn’t stay out for long
Thursday: Drove home leaving at around 8:00am
Dinners:
Monday: Barry (Monika) made a delicious sweet potato red lentil curry dish.
Tuesday: Lloyd made a nice shrimp Paella.
Wednesday: Meat and Vegetable Lasagna by tony, doublebake in morning
Thursday: Great Kung Pao Chicken by Dave
Memories:
Excited (then not) about snow conditions. We thought they would be awesome. Global warming sucks
Played a lot of Poker. New game was “Lame Brain Bill” by Lloyd.
Created another version of Baseball by Bob where 4’s allowed you steal someone else card.
Lloyd and Dave thinking they had wild cards (they didn’t)
Played Cribbage, Sorry, Rummy games while not skiing
Tried to watch Trump’s state of the union address (it was bad and sad)
Hot tub was great, seated 4 easily, but we had to get to it through Bob’s room.
Massive Kitchen making cooking easy
100mph winds on Tuesday at top of slopes
